A warming and spicy dahl is so good. Season to taste. My recipe is just on the verge of hot, but this is how I like my spicy sauces. It does not burn in the mouth, but the taste is definitely there. If you want the sauce hotter add more of teh chili and you may well increase in the other spices too. If you are not sure how much of the spices you should use I recommend you to taste taste the sauce. Rather too little than too much spices. It is easy to add spices, but harder to get rid of them :)
Red Lentil Dahl
1 tbsp coconut oil
1 red onion, chopped
1 tsp garlic-ginger paste
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp curry
1 tsp turmeric
pinch of chili
2.5 dl red lentils (1 cup)
4-5 dl vegetable stock (2 cups)
1.5 dl coconut milk (2/3 cup)
Heat the oil in a large pan. Fry the onion and garlic-ginger paste stirring frequently, until the onion has softened. Add the the rest of the spices and fry for a couple of minutes. Add the lentils, vegetable stock and coconut milk and let simmer for 30 minutes. Season to taste. Serve with rice or/and naan.
Dahl på röda linser
1 msk kokosolja
1 rödlök, hackad
1 tsk vitlöks-ingefärapasta
1 tsk senapsfrön
1 tsk kummin
1 tsk curry
1 tsk gurkmeja
nypa chili
2,5 dl röda linser
4-5 dl grönsaksbuljong
1,5 dl kokosmjölk
Hetta upp oljan i en stor kastrull. Fräs lök och vitlök-ingefärapasta och rör om ofta, tills löken mjuknat. Tillsätt resten av kryddor och stek i ett par minuter. Tillsätt linser, grönsaksbuljong och kokosmjölk och låt sjuda i 30 minuter. Smaka av. Servera med ris och / eller naan.
